Make-Up Days for 2014-2015 School Year--Still Time to Comment!
The
following is from a recent letter from Paul Giaramita with Albemarle
County Public Schools: At its meeting last Thursday evening, the Albemarle
County School Board decided to extend the period of time for public
comment on the proposed make-up days for the 2014-15 school calendar.
This follows an earlier decision by the Board to consider building in
several scheduled inclement weather make-up days in next year's
calendar.
Currently, these make-up days
would include, in order of priority, January 20, February 16, April 3,
6, and 7, and June 8, and 9. The April 3rd date is the Friday before
spring break and April 6th and 7th are the first two days of the break.
The addition of some or any of these days would reduce the possibility
of having to extend the school year in 2015.
The Board is planning to take a vote on these proposed make-up days during their May 8th meeting. If you would like to provide feedback on the calendar, you have a number of options available to you. You can attend the regularly scheduled Board meetings on Thursday, April 24th or Thursday, May 8th and sign up for public comment; you can send a note to the School Board at: 401 McIntire Road, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or you can send an e-mail to: schoolboard@k12albemarle.org.
